Why Wont My Hair Stay Straight
We have all been on the other side of frustration and burnt hair smell trying to achieve a sleek look. After hundreds of dollars spent on hair products, our exasperation is at its highest peek. I'm here to help make this process less taxing and more rewarding. If you follow the steps below you will accomplish one of your hair goals.
Disclaimer: If your hair is natural and your hair is not acclimated to the silkening process, you may want to add a deep conditioning to help soften your strands.
STEP 1 ( PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP) Use a clarifying shampoo to remove oils and build up.
STEP 2: Follow the clarifying shampoo with a revitalizing, nourishing, moisturizing, or strengthening shampoo to repair your strand from the breaking down of the clarifying process.
STEP 3: After two shampoos a conditioning is a MUST. This step will seal the moisture into your cuticle to keep it from drying out and breaking.
Step 4: On towel dried hair, add your styling products. Here is were it gets a bit challenging. Your products have to be specific for your hair needs. Typically on a more coarse strand I would use an oil based serum or heat protectant. For a finer strand, a water based heat protectant will work. With all textures heat protectant is essential. I would also include a detangler if needed and a leave- in conditioner.
STEP 4: Blow dry your hair with a blow drying attachment. A paddle brush or round brush will work as well. Make sure your hair is 100% dry.
STEP 5: Flat iron with a high quality styling tool. The heat needs to be dispersed evenly. This will prevent you from going over your hair multiple times. Use a Carbon Fiber Heat Resistant Comb to lead the flat iron. This method prevents flat ironing over small knots in the hair.
STEP 6: This step is optional but it offers a beautiful finish. Use a dime size of serum and rub it in your palms then into your hair. Wrap your hair and place a shower cap over it. Pull the shower cap tightly and clip it to maintain the tightness. Sat under a low heat dryer for 3-5 minutes. Once the time is up, unwrap your hair and enjoy your results.
